Hinterland is happening

It’s really happening. Glasgow’s in for a busy 2009. Recently voted a UNESCO City Of Music, the city has a music scene that the USA’s Time Magazine recently compared to that of Detroit in its Motown heyday. Just this month Glasgow was highlighted by Rough Guide as a key city to visit in 2009.

Glasgow it seems, is THE PLACE TO BE and we’re really excited because we’re there!

Hinterview - Manda Rin

Manda Rin most famously was one third of Glasgow pop punksters Bis. Bis’ most famous achievement (and there are many!) was being the very first unsigned band to perform on Top of the Pops. They played their hit “Kandy Pop” to the unsuspecting viewers and went on to sell 100,000 records in Japan! They soon signed with the Beastie Boys’ label Grand Royal and wrote some music for the popular cartoon series The Powerpuff Girls. However, in 2003 the band decided to call it a day.

Sound Of The Underground: 85 Bears

Formed in the autumn of 2007, the three young men of 85 Bears have been busy experimenting in the railway arches of East London. An instrumental band creating songs hanging tentatively on delicately looped guitar riffs, thundering bass lines, and breathtaking drum patterns. Inhale and the heart stops as the music feigns fragility, exhale and the sky come crashing down around you.

With Biffy Clyro putting this small seaside town firmly on the map, friends of Biffy, Sucioperro, have been flying the flag here for quite a while too. More recently, members of Sucioperro and Biffy Clyro have teamed-up to create the weird and wonderful concoction that is Marmaduke Duke but don’t let this cloud the fact that Sucioperro are damn fine

THE COMMITTEE ROOM: A Badge Of Friendship

A Badge of Friendship are gig promoters and DJs based in good old London town. They have been around since 2005 and have had the fortune of doing some really great shows with bands like Hell is for Heroes, The Twilight Sad and Enablers to name but a few.

ABoF have DJ-ed their own successful run of club nights at The Fly (featuring regularly as Kerrang! Magazine's Club Night of the Week) as well as Rock Sound's 100th Birthday Bash and the Kerrang! Awards Aftershow.
