Glasgow Podcart presents the White House Gallery

We present to you a dazzling array of artwork, performance and installation work in  the newly opened The White House. Over the two days of the festival between 12 noon and 5pm there will be a wide variety of visual and performance art from some of the most innovative contemporary artists from Glasgow and beyond. Look out for some surprises and impromptu works along the way as well as some acoustic sets.

Glasgow Podcart brings together the best new music and artwork through our website and weekly podcast. We play music from both signed and unsigned artists and lots, lots more.  Listen to our latest podcart at http://glasgowpodcart.com and we are also available to download for free from itunes!

About The White House

The White House is a newly opened artist run, not for profit gallery located within the city centre ( just off Argyle Street ).  The gallery is focussed on providing artists with a great space for visual and performance art. Covering 25,000 square feet of industrial space, the initiative was created as a “A Place of Risk and Adventure” by David Gibson and Mark Campbell.

About Glasgow Podcart

The website has been designed by the brilliant Will McNeilly. Will is based in Belfast and he has been amazingly supportive of this project. Will’s talent and ideas are truly inspiring.

The artwork on the website is designed by the fabulous Paddy Duke who assists Will in all matters design orientated and even helps turn vague ideas for t-shirts into works of ART!!

Halina Rifai is a dreamer whose life is driven by music.  She writes for Sleepwalking Mag and gets so emotionally involved with music and artists that it is her all consuming passion, apart from her penchant for ginger men!

Sean McCann  is a semi retired singer/songwriter from Glasgow who spent years living the punk dream in London but is now happily ensconced in his south side bolt hole with his dog Kermit.

Alistair Burton is a writer, photographer and musician who has a lovely line in beards! He is currently tubthumping for the mean and magnificent servant.

Jerry Dowds is an artist and musician who is currently studying at Glasgow School of Art. Jerry is a suave and debonair gentlemen who knows how to seperate the dogs bollocks from the ‘just bollocks’ and for that we are very grateful. You can view Jerry’s work at the Punk-Art website.

Megan Leggo is a collaborator who manages to combine saving small furry lives with attending gigs, snapping bands and being an encyclopeadia of the current underground music scene. You can view Megan’s excellent photography and music blogs here.

Alan J Robertsonis a video artist, film maker and overall noisesmith who is responsible for all of our sound and video recordings.  You can view a selection of his work at his youtube space.

We are not professionals and we are not doing this to gain some kind of status as individuals. It is a team project and we hope it reflects our passion for the current Scottish art scene.  We believe we can help illuminate the incredible talent our country has to offer and also provide a useful tool that will allow cross pollination of ideas and art across a wide spectrum of styles and genre’s.

If you want to display your art, photography or have your music played then please get in contact. Also if you are a writer or poet and wish to post your work please send us your work as we will be adding a literature section soon. You can do so by mailing the team here or through
